Forgotten Update

Remember when I said I was going to do a Santa Cruz post. Well it didn't happen. Is anyone really surprised? A lot has happened in the past two month. Thomas started to roll over, Chad's work moved downtown and now he has his own office, and we went to Mexico (yea!). It is doubtful that I will ever catch up but know that we are okay. The babies are great, work is work and we have plenty of sunshine.

Camping highlights:A friend (Brittany) took some family pictures, here is one of my favorites. If I get my act together I'll try to post more.

My sister

I am very blessed to have wonderful siblings and sibling-in-laws. Lately on the radio I have been hearing a commercial that makes me think of one such sibling. This is a shout-out to her; thanks Andi for all that you do for me and those you help.

May is. . .

. . . the month that we wanted to last forever, but didn't. Here are some highlights of my last month of maternity leave.

We worked in the backyard. Charles fished with a branch and Chad started a garden.

We played with the boppy. Thomas perfected his turtle look.

Thomas bonded with his brown blanket and learned to laugh. We also did a little sweating to the oldies (not really).

Lastly we went camping and visited the beach. But you'll have to wait until the next post for those pictures because this one is already long. Hopefully it won't be another month, but don't be surprised if it is.

Oh yeah. . .Chad got offered a job with the state! Yea for Chad!!

Time Flies

If you can believe it, Thomas is 6 weeks already. Why does time fly when the babies are so little? Maybe it is because they consume the entire day and night. It still isn't fair. At least this time I still have 6 more weeks to enjoy him. With Charles I had to return to work at 6 weeks. Not fun. Thomas is turning out to be quite the heavy weight. He has already reached 13 pounds. He is a good baby and we have decided to keep him. Charles maybe loves him the most, but also sometimes would rather I feed Thomas later. Here are some pictures of the last month. It was a good one. We enjoyed our Easter very much and blessed Thomas last Sunday.

Picture Time

Thomas isn't awake very often, and when he is he doesn't usually like the flash of the camera.

Charles called him "Moose Boy" when he wore these pajamas the other night.

He has been a fairly mellow baby thus far.

This is his look when he is tired of having his picture taken.

The bouncer makes him so sleepy. We are working on teaching him to cover his mouth when he yawns.

Sleeping on mommy's bed. He must have learned that from his brother.

Resting. We have to keep his fingernails short because he likes to claw at his face.

More bouncer time. He likes the vibrating setting.

Quick Story

Thomas is sleeping and Charles is enjoying some playhouse Disney. So I thought I would quickly share the story of Thomas.

Thomas was already estimating to be fairly big so my doctor and I decided we would induce labor on the 4th if he didn't come sooner (due date was the 7th). At my last appointment on the 2nd I was dilated to a 4, so she didn't think I would make it to Thursday. I did and so around 8:20 she broke my water and said if nothing happened in 6 hours she would start the meds. Well, contractions started around 9 and were 10 minutes apart. About 10:30 I was a 6 and was ready for an epidural. The pain was bad but what was killing me was that the contractions were making me light headed and I felt like I was close to passing out. I got the best epidural where I felt better but still felt the contractions and pressure. Anyway, close to 11 a.m. I was about 9 and a half centimeters. At 11:20 I was a 10 and Thomas was at +3 station. After maybe 3 sets of pushes Thomas was born at 11:30 a.m.

Thomas has been very mellow but isn't a big fan of his cradle so some nights are interesting. Charles loves Thomas, maybe too much. He always wants to give him 10 kisses. We are doing well and are continuing to lay low for a while.

No Cool Nickname Yet

The whole gang right after Thomas was born.

After his bath. We had to cover up his hands because he kept scratching his face.

Our first family picture. Hooch likes to kiss him and pet his hair.
